Duck!

My  lovely stage was set  and then I  waited. I was lucky as the man ducked, for he did not want to spoil my photograph.

Hi Chris, as ever your timing is wonderful and your patience admirable. The way you have set your website up using this section is inspirational. Just the title of the section encourages the viewer to comment. I have not come across this in any other photo website I have looked at over the past few years.

Great stuff
Ray

This photo made me laugh. It just looks so funny. I find it can be difficult as a street photographer when people very politely stop to let you take your shot or try to get out of the way when you actually want them in the shot!

Looks like early morning, and this chap's crept out in his PJ's to fix the leak before anyone takes a photo...

He ducked! I haven't used your technique yet, I promise to try soon ;-)

probably ashamed by the nude in the pool :) , the sphinx and the suited man in the back too seems to try to look elsewhere. There are layers of small stories here. I love too to do some candid but the way you get people to pose for you, or often not seeming to notice you is impressing. waiting for the next shot

Thank you all very much for taking the time to add your kind comments. The website is the beautiful creation of a great guy Martyn Moore of Northlight Media. He saw my images and just wanted to help me share them with you.I agree Ray, the Picture of the Week is a great idea.

I am glad the picture made you laugh Nicola as humour is crucial to my photography.Using this stage technique is all about getting a good background with the right actors, waiting and the timing. Most times it fails but ocasionally your patience will be rewarded. Especially the apology and exagerated duck. Do try it.

Etienne,I might take a quick candid but I think the natural posing comes from chatting and shooting from the chest at the same time.It is the eye contact,an unusal facial expression and some gesture that makes it. Thank you all again and watch this space.

Thanks Chris, thanks Ray.

'Discuss the photo of the Week' was partly Chris's idea. He wanted to post every image as a blog entry and conduct 100 conversations at once.

But he also wanted galleries and a profile area. My idea was to allow Chris to encourage and direct the conversation around one photo at a time.

It started slowly but has begun to gather momentum. Thanks to people like you, Ray, Chris is throwing himself into his photography with renewed confidence.

Feel free to suggest subjects you'd like to discuss. Chris will be able to find photos that illustrate any question or point.
